I woke up thinking about you and all you’ve had to deal with recently. The weight of responsibility can feel pretty heavy, especially when there are things at play that are out of your control. Thing is, it’s when you’re not in control that you truly show who you are. Though that has to be scary sometimes, I want you to know that it is your vulnerability and humanness that makes you beautiful, and it will ultimately make you stronger than you ever thought possible.
Times that force us into a vulnerable state against our will can send us into the fight, flight, or freeze mode of the survival brain. When survival brain kicks in, we temporarily lose our capacity for critical thinking, which can trigger everything from panic to anger to isolation. When those thoughts creep in, ask yourself the question, What do I need to be ok right now?
As much as I wish I could, I can’t answer that question for you. But what I can tell you is that you are enough, exactly as you are. You don’t have anything to prove and you don’t have to do anything to be worthy of love. You’re going to get through whatever you’re facing, so don’t let your overactive, overly self-critical brain tell you otherwise.
And never forget that I love you.
