Dear one,

We all know the importance of checking in with those we care about, especially those we know are going through something difficult or painful. Today I would like to encourage you to take what you know one step further.

I’m an overachiever by nature. I work hard, and I work even harder at making sure those within my reach feel loved and seen. I also live with PTSD and High Functioning Anxiety that manifests itself in a variety of ways at different times. The only reason I am sharing this is because I want to remind you that everyone around you is going through something, including those of us who are almost always the caregivers.

The thing about the nurturer/caregiver type is that most of us wouldn’t dream of asking for help, even if we needed it. It’s easy to ignore the caregivers when dolling out well wishes and words of encouragement, but often the people with the biggest smiles who seem to have it all together are the ones going through the deepest, darkest hell. So pick up the phone, send a text, a private message, or a card to the people you love, and don’t leave out the strong ones.

Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.

Love,
