We can’t control what others do, but we choose whether or not we are in control of our reaction to it.
I’ve said this in the past and sparked heated debates over someone’s right to say what they want, but that’s not the point. What I said is that WE CHOOSE whether we are in control of the way WE behave in reaction to what others do. That’s not a judgment, it’s a fact. It doesn’t dictate that you’re wrong retaliating, just that YOU CHOOSE that action.
And if you don’t choose your reaction, then someone else is in control.
