“Love thy neighbor as yourself, but choose your neighborhood.”
Louise Beal
Dear one,
Sometimes the most loving thing is to say no, even if it doesn’t feel that way at the time. You can love someone without giving them access to your life. Read that again.
I’ve talked for years about how recovery hinges on a delicate balance that requires us to actively investigate the nouns in our lives. But the people, places, things, and ideas we surround ourselves with should be a point of focus for everyone, whether they are in recovery or not.
What ‘neighborhood’ do you find yourself in lately?
Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.
