I was doing a phone counseling session with one of my clients while driving home from work recently. He is dealing with a ton of self-loathing with no love for himself at all, and he asked for guidance. I suggested that he end every day with a moment of purposeful gratitude I call One Good Thing.
The idea is simple: make the last thing you think about each day be one thing from the day that was good. Say it out loud, and follow it by saying out loud that you deserve that one good thing, and that you are thankful for it.
For example, mine for today: “One good thing from my day was when a client trusted me with a big and very personal secret. I deserve that level of trust and will continue to work hard to maintain it. I am thankful that my clients see me as trustworthy.”
Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.
Love,
