Dear one,
The next time someone expresses a story with which you feel a connection, avoid saying that you’re “in the same boat.” You’re not in the same boat, and your attempt to align with them may be taken as lessening the gravity and importance of the situation for them.
Your life experiences are not the same as anyone else’s. Your joys, pains, and struggles belong to you. Even someone who goes through things alongside you are going to experience them differently. You are not in the same boat.
You are in the same storm, but in a different vessel.
Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.
