Dear one,

When I started writing these letters on May 31, 2022, it was to share knowledge and experience. I didn’t have a goal or even a plan, I just wanted to write some love letters to my family. The audience has grown quite a lot since then, but the idea never changed. If you’re reading this, I wrote this and the 299 letters that preceded it for you.

Letter 300, the one you’re reading right now, will be the last of these love letters. I want to thank each of you who have been reading along for the past 15 months. Your love and encouragement has made this a wonderful period in my life.

Today I want to remind you that you deserve to be happy. You deserve to be treated with love and respect. Along with that, you also have a responsibility with regard to the way you treat others. Let’s make a conscious effort to bring happiness, love, and respect to the table at every interaction. Let’s focus our attention on building people up.

I am so tired of the hate-filled negativity I see all around me. I see it in the way we treat immigrants and people of color, I see it in the way we treat the unsheltered and the addicted. I see it in the way we treat people who cut us off in traffic, and people who love in ways that we don’t understand.

None of us are going to make it out of this alive. I have made it my job to leave as much love and compassion behind when I go that my memory will live on without me. If you remember nothing else about me, remember this:

Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.

Love,

  1. Michael – I think we can all appreciate just how much you have given of yourself the last year and a half. I’ve read quite a few of your letters but by no means all of them. That being said I hope you leave them up online for people to go back through. I know that it’s a huge hassle, and publishing print books is no longer a viable business, but your writings would make a good collection to put together in one PDF, perhaps. Good luck with your next venture!

    1. Thanks for the comment. The letters aren’t going anywhere; they’ll be on the site for the foreseeable future.
