Holding on to resentment and anger doesn’t truly hurt anyone but us. When we hold on to that stuff, we’re letting it control us. Ultimately, forgiveness isn’t about letting someone off the hook, it’s about claiming control over our own thoughts and emotions.
We can forgive someone without letting them back into our life, but as long as we hold on to it, we’re keeping them closer than we realize. The best way to let it go is to learn the lessons the person (or the situation) has to teach you, then put it behind you and move forward with your life.
Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.
