Dear one,

The toughest part about changing something in our lives is convincing ourselves that the time to start is right now. Complacency is comfortable even when we want better for ourselves. Change can be intimidating.

Anais Nin said, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” It is in the moment when our comfort zone is no longer comforting and comfortable that we can take a deep breath, compel ourselves forward, and take those first steps toward positive change.

I know it can be scary. Personal change involves goals for our future selves, and that involves pushing ourselves into the unknown. That’s scary as hell if you think of it as something that’s happening to you, but what if you thought about it differently? What if the change is something that you are making happen? That puts you in the driver’s seat, which gives you the power to decide how much change and how soon.

Only you can decide what is best for you, but when it’s time to stop remaining in that tight bud and blossom, I hope you’ll be a little less intimidated about the potential for change in your life.

Never forget that I love you, and that excludes no one.

Love,
